Orthopedic and spine physical therapy in Vandalia

Physical therapy for the way you work

Millrace treats backs, shoulders, hips and knees by the task that gives you trouble: lifting, reaching, standing, driving. We open early and stay late, so you can come before or after your shift.

Care by task

Start with the work that hurts

Your job is a set of movements. We plan your care around the ones giving you trouble, not around a body part.

  1. Low back, hips, shoulders

    Lifting and carrying

Boxes, totes, parts and tools. Learn to lift and carry in a way your body tolerates, and build up to the load your job asks for.

  2. Shoulders, neck, upper back

    Reaching overhead

Stocking shelves, loading trucks, working a line. We work on the shoulder, neck and upper back so reaching up stops being the hard part of the shift.

  3. Feet, knees, hips, low back

    Standing all day

On concrete, at a station, behind a counter. Your feet, knees, hips and back carry the shift, and we look at all of them.

  4. Low back, hips, neck

    Driving and sitting

Long routes, forklift seats and desks. Hours of sitting stiffen the back and hips. We plan breaks and movements you can do in a cab.

  5. Return to your full job

    Getting back to work

After an injury, surgery or time off. We plan a gradual return with you and send your employer the work notes they ask for, with your permission.

Your first visit

Three steps from the phone to your plan

  1. 01

    Call or send a message

Tell us when you can come and who pays: your health plan, workers' compensation or you. We look for a time before or after your shift.

  2. 02

    Meet your therapist

Your first visit is about an hour with a physical therapist. Wear what you wear to work, and tell us what your shift asks of you.

  3. 03

    Start your plan

You leave with a plan and exercises. Your therapist explains what decides how many visits you need.

Who pays

Health plan, work claim or your own pocket

Most people come through one of these. The front desk checks which applies before your first visit and tells you what to expect.

  • Your health plan

We bill many kinds of plans, including most PPO plans, Medicare and Medicaid. Your plan decides what it pays.

  • Workers' compensation

If you were hurt at work, tell us who your adjuster is. Your state decides who may direct your care.

  • Auto injury coverage

If you were hurt in a crash, get emergency care first. We explain how your bills are handled before you start.

  • Paying yourself

If you pay without insurance, we give you a written estimate before your first visit.

The therapists who treat you

Four physical therapists, one front desk. Your first visit is always with a physical therapist.

Quick answers before you call

Do I need a referral?

Ohio lets you start physical therapy without a referral, with some limits. Your plan, or a workers' compensation claim, may still ask for a doctor's referral. The front desk checks before your first visit.

Does my plan cover this, and do you take Medicare?

We bill many kinds of plans, including most PPO plans, Medicare, Medicaid, workers' compensation and auto injury coverage. Your plan decides what it pays. We check your benefits and call you before your first visit.

I was hurt at work. Can I come here?

Yes. Get emergency care first if you need it. Tell us who your adjuster is. Your state decides who may direct your care. We explain how your bills are handled before you start.

How long is a visit, and who treats me?

Your first visit is about an hour, and you see a physical therapist. After that, your therapist plans your visits around what you need and your schedule.

Can I come before or after my shift?

Ask for an early or a late visit when you call. Our hours are at the top of the page and on the locations page.
